Conscious Fashion Efforts at Threadsmith

CONSCIOUS

We make a concerted effort to be aware and ethical in our work. We are able to do so by developing pieces that are of high-quality, long lasting, and environmentally friendly.

Sourcing

We put in deliberate efforts to create outfits that are timeless, both – in style, and durability. Our garments last longer than most due to the high quality of materials that are used in construction and craftsmanship. The designs are classic and personality based rather than trend-based.

Making the product

“A good design is a sustainable design.” – Imran Amed. We try to live up to this adage by creating our products in a sustainable and ethical manner. All our outfits are Made to Order, therefore ensuring the absence of overproduction or wastage of fabrics.

Fashion shouldn’t cost the Earth, therefore we use ethical fabrics and materials in our products. Natural silk, for example, is not used in our products due to its contribution to groundwater pollution, the prevalence of child labor in the industry, and the animal cruelty involved in the fabric’s production. We are currently researching silk alternatives, such as Peace silk or Ahimsa silk.

The majority of our fabrics are made from natural materials. For example, For our suit jackets and pants, we mostly use premium 100% wool fabrics. Our shirts are generally made from premium Egyptian, Giza and Supima cottons along with Linen, Hemp and Organic cotton sourced from the eco-friendly fabric collection of our sister company, ‘Tomorrow Tribe’. We continue our research on sustainable fabrics because sustainability is about the long run.

Environment-friendly packaging

87% of our packaging is completely plastic-free. Instead, we use paper carry bags and envelopes to promote eco-friendly packaging.

Delivery

We use environmentally friendly electric scooters for delivery. They do not use fossil fuels or emit smoke, thereby reducing air pollution.

Safe and respectful workplace environment
