INSIDE THE BESPOKE OUTFIT
Fabrics
Threadsmith sources fabrics of only the highest quality from around the world for its clients. Due to the hot and humid climate in Mumbai, our clients prefer wearing lightweight natural fabrics. Predominantly, we work with pure wools for business suits. Due to their high breathability and temperature controlling ability, pure wools work well for ethnic wear such as jodhpuris, sherwanis and bandis as well. Apart from wool, we work with linen and hemp to build some sports jackets, for weddings or any casual events. They are nice, lightweight and have a lot of colors to work with. In addition to Linen and Hemp, our shirts also use premium cottons such as Egyptian, Giza and Supima Cottons.

Crafted with Global Excellence: From Fabrics to Threads, Only the Finest Touches

Chest Felt
Choosing a chest piece made of natural fibers will allow the garment to breathe while also adding comfort and stability. Our chest felts contain wool content, which makes them as breathable as your shell fabric.
Lining
Threadsmith cares about the inside of your suit, ensuring maximum comfort by using skin-friendly materials when creating the linings. Our linings are made in Japan from Asahi-Bemberg, a breathable and sustainable material derived from the cotton plant using cotton linter (0 percent polyester).
Zippers
We’ve all experienced the difficulty of a zipper that won’t stay up! We only use high-quality YKK.
Canvas
Threadsmith chose a hair canvas with a natural touch feel for a perfect lapel roll. This hair canvas is the same as that used by bespoke houses on Savile Row. One can choose between a full canvas and a half canvas. The hand-sewn canvas allows the suit to “breathe” bringing added comfort. It also holds up to repeated dry cleaning and thus increases durability.
While a fused jacket is held together with glue, the canvassed jacket has an interlining that’s sewn to the outer shell. Because of this, it moves with you, and the drape changes as your body re-positions. Therefore, there is minimal strain on the jacket and it lasts longer. This change in the drape over time will improve the fit as it conforms to your body as you continue wearing it.
The reason a canvassed jacket is more expensive is the heritage craftsmanship involved and that it takes more effort to create.
Shoulder Pads
Shoulder pads give the wearer the appearance of broader, less sloped shoulders. Our shoulder pads are composed of superfine felts, which ensure that they remain soft even after several dry-cleaning cycles.
Buttons
Rather than being machine-finished, our buttons are cross-stitched and hand-tacked, ensuring sturdiness and durability. We also offer premium Corozo buttons that are sourced from Ecuador and made from tagua palm tree seeds. With their rimmed edge, these buttons look stunning on a suit or shirt. For ethnic wear, meticulously handcrafted buttons from Jaipur are used.
